2013 Reading List

2013 was a great year for me on the reading front – a good mix of genres, styles and subjects; discovering some new writers who have a number of works to add to the ever-growing to-read list; inspiring and instructional works from a writer’s perspective; adding the Kindle into the mix. I read 32 books, still short of the book-a-week goal I’ve set for years on end (and haven’t yet achieved). And 32 was down from the 41 I read last year.

I can recommend everything listed below – to varying degrees, though they’re all worth your time – but my favorite books I read in 2013 were absolutely incredible: Ernest Cline – Ready Player One; Jo Nesbø – Phantom; Kurt Andersen – True Believers; Chad Harbach – The Art of Fielding; and Justin St. Germain – Son of a Gun.
